#Hajj2019 is just around the corner, Labbayk Allahumma Labbayk! for most of the pilgrims, it is truly a long-awaited moment to answer this call of Allah. The excitement is in the air and shared by their family members and relatives back home.
Here are some dramatic highlights of this year’s Hajj, and how these highlights should be critically reflected by the Muslim Leaders and Daies.
1. THE CHRISTCHURCH VICTIMS GET TO GO FOR HAJJ!
200 family members of the massacre victims will be specially invited for Hajj this year. The last few months must be hard on them. Let us thus be reminded that the prayer of the oppressed has no boundary with Allah, even if it is a Muslim committing the oppression.
2. 1 MILLION SIM CARDS AND FREE INTERNET
are offered by the authorities as a gift to pilgrims. They will facilitate the pilgrims’ communication with their loved ones back home. Well, how about us keep reminding them to stay focused on the Hajj and, moreover, its meaning and maqasid?
3. THE PILGRIMS WILL BE FREE TO MOVE AROUND IN SAUDI ARABIA.
Previously, the pilgrims’ movement was limited to only Jeddah, Makkah and Madinah. With the upcoming royal decree granting this new freedom, may we remind the pilgrims that their sincere intention of performing Hajj should not be distracted by the attraction of leisure tourism!
4. 8 MILLION COPIES OF QURAN TO BE DISTRIBUTED.
What a massive number of copies! Nevertheless, let them be reminded that the Words of Allah are not only meant to be recited. They are also to be understood and put into practice. Instead of later, how about starting now during the pilgrimage itself?
5. UP TO 25,000 WEARABLE, TRACKABLE SMART CARDS ISSUED.
The card will store important information on health status, schedules and more. Simulation and prediction of crowd behaviour will be easier with the help of cameras and sensors. Nevertheless, let them be cautioned that this should not lessen the Muslims’ focus and reliance on Allah as the All-protecting and All-seeing, here in the holy land or back home.
These and more updates should fill up the news soon. However, the more important and larger question remains: that despite the spectacle of millions of people going for Hajj with all the novel facilities, bowing in unity and equality before Allah, why is the Ummah still oppressed, relegated, disintegrated and differentiated by caste and worldly status?
